You probably already have some idea of what you should and shouldn't eat while wearing braces. Essentially, anything that can cause damage to your braces is off limits!
For the first few days you have your braces, stick to soft foods. Avoid tough meats, hard breads, and raw vegetables.
You'll be able to bite a cucumber again before long. But you'll still need to protect your orthodontic appliances when you eat for as long as you're wearing braces.

Keep in mind also, if you're in the habit of chewing on hard things (for example, pens, pencils or fingernails), this can damage your braces, which will result in your treatment taking longer than planned.
